The commercial history of the Angelopoulos family begins in 1965.
Vlassios ANGELOPOULOS, the founder, undertakes to import for the very first time to Brussels some Greek products which, without being of any vital necessity, remind the first Greek expatriates of their country that they miss so much.
Over time, demand becomes bigger and the product offering from a small grocery store is transformed into a true complete range that allows all the needs of a family to be met but also to launch the first Greek restaurants. The enthusiasm will be such that the range of Greek products will expand more and more.
Besides food products, wines also take an important place in the assortment of this small company and Vlassios ANGELOPOULOS then decides to establish a collaboration with his friend Evangelos TSANTALI whose wines and spirits are more and more popular in Greece. The TSANTALI estate is nowadays the largest producer of wines in terms of international sales volume.
n 1982, it was Stavroula ANGELOPOULOU, one of the daughters, who with her husband, Georgios VAHLAS, took up the torch of the company. The second generation carries the family name even higher with the integration of Greek wines and products for the first time in mass distribution.
Today, the two sons, Zissis VAHLAS and Alexandros VAHLAS, succeed them.
Zissis Vahlas: "My passion for Greece and its history naturally led me to work, after my studies in foreign trade, for the family business.
The unsuspected richness of many Greek terroirs has allowed me to discover and integrate into our range of other vineyards such as the Costa Lazaridi, Avantis Estate, Barafakas Winery, Gikas, Foundi Estate, and more recently those of Santorini."
Alexandros Vahlas: "I am proud to be able to contribute to the continuity of the company alongside my brother and to provide him with my management knowledge. I am convinced that together we will be able to continue the activity of our grandparents."
In order to satisfy the ever-increasing number of customers looking for the authenticity of Greek products, a deli-shop has also been set up in front of the warehouse.
There are products from different regions: mainland Greece, Peloponnese, Crete, Santorini, and other islands such as Evia (where the brothers are originally from).
And in the novelties, new generation ENOMATIC machines which allow customers to taste the new wine discoveries free of charge.
